Loading/Saving Games

Save game
TechNES can save your progress in a *.sst file (Save State) so that you can play from where you left off at a later time. All save files are placed in the ROM folder. To save a game, select NES > Save game. You will get the following dialog:

Enter the description of the save state file, then press 'Save'.

Load game
To restore a previously saved game, go to NES > Load game. The load game dialog looks like this:
Select a save state file and press 'Delete' to delete it. To load a save state file, select it and press 'Load'.

Battery-backed RAM
Some games use battery-backed RAM for non-volatile data. Such games are Zelda, StarTropics, Kirby's Adventure, etc. When the power is "turned off" (or the game is unloaded for some reason,) TechNES automatically saves the non-volatile data in the ROM folder. When the power is "turned on," it automatically loads the data back again. Non-volatile data is stored as *.sav files, a format that almost all NES emulators use. You can easily transfer your *.sav files between different emulators.
